A quick glance at the Vantage GT8 is enough to realise that this road-going model has been inspired by Aston Martin's racing activities.
The bodywork, which features plenty of carbon fibre, boasts widened wheel arches, an aggressive front splitter and massive side sills. An optional Aero Pack includes a prominent rear wing.
To help keep the car's weight down, polycarbonate is used for the rear screen and rear-side windows, the exhaust is made from titanium, manually-adjustable carbon fibre sports seats are fitted and the battery is a lithium-ion unit.
For anybody intent on shedding further kilos, seven-spoke centre-lock magnesium wheels can be specified instead of the standard five-spoke alloy rims.
The Vantage GT8 does have some comforts though, as air conditioning and an infotainment system are retained.
Power comes from a modified 4.7 litre V8 engine that's predicted to produce 440 bhp (328 kW / 446 PS). It'll be available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed Sportshift II paddle-shift transmission, but performance figures haven't been revealed yet.
Just 150 examples of the Vantage GT8 are going to be built. In the UK, prices start from £165,000 and deliveries are due to begin during the fourth quarter of 2016.
